About Our Client
Our client is reshaping how revenue teams operate by transforming every customer interaction into structured intelligence and automated action. Their AI-powered platform helps organizations move faster, learn continuously from real conversations, and make every sales cycle more efficient and predictable. The product is trusted by hundreds of high-growth companies across enterprise and mid-market segments.
The company believes the best AI products are deeply human-centered — rather than replacing people, the platform empowers go-to-market professionals to surface the answers that matter while eliminating repetitive manual work. The engineering organization is lean, highly collaborative, and structured with a flat hierarchy — engineers have direct access to product leadership and meaningful influence over what gets built. Multiple funding rounds have been raised, the company is expanding quickly, and engineering retention is exceptionally strong.

Position Overview
As a senior engineer and technical anchor on the New York team, you will own the design and delivery of complex, cross-cutting features on an AI platform already serving over a hundred enterprise customers. The team in New York is growing — several developers with strong foundations are leveling up quickly, and the need is for senior technical leadership that can provide architectural direction, mentorship, and high-quality code that others learn from.
This is emphatically a technical leadership role, not a management role. You'll remain a hands-on individual contributor — writing code daily, tackling the hardest architectural problems, and shipping flagship features — while also reviewing pull requests, guiding design decisions, and raising the quality bar across the team. The expectation is to own a major product initiative quickly and reach team-lead scope on a core feature area within six months.

Technical Skills
-
Deep proficiency in Go — the primary backend language across the platform
-
Production-grade experience with distributed systems — not theoretical, but battle-tested at scale
-
Hands-on with Kubernetes, AWS/GCP, Redis, and workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g., Temporal)
-
Comfort navigating and contributing across the full stack when needed, with clear backend strength
-
Fluency with modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor) — leveraging them strategically while maintaining engineering rigor
Â
Role Priorities
-
Strong individual contributor who also operates as a technical leader — setting direction, not just executing
-
Proven ability to take ambiguous problems and drive them from early scoping through production delivery and ongoing reliability
-
Experience mentoring and elevating junior engineers through code review, pairing, and architectural guidance
-
Product-engineering orientation — understands why features matter to users, not just how to build them
-
Comfortable operating in a flat, high-autonomy environment with direct access to product and leadership
-
Thrives at the pace and intensity of a growth-stage startup — high ownership, high output
Â
Who Thrives in This Role
-
You've been a tech lead or senior IC at a Series A–D startup and shipped real B2B product to enterprise or mid-market customers
-
You're energized by mentoring a growing team of developers — raising the floor, reviewing work thoughtfully, and accelerating their trajectory into senior contributors
-
You want to be in a New York office five days a week, building shoulder-to-shoulder with a tight, collaborative team
-
You've stayed at a company long enough (3+ years) to see systems and tradeoffs evolve — you understand the cost of decisions over time
-
You care about the intersection of AI and business workflows, or have the curiosity and drive to go deep in that space
-
You embrace a demanding, high-intensity culture driven by genuine ownership and impact

Key Responsibilities
-
Own end-to-end design and implementation of complex features — from task breakdown through delivery, observability, and long-term maintenance
-
Drive architectural decisions and participate in design reviews, ensuring systems are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with product direction
-
Produce high-quality, well-reasoned code and designs that serve as a reference for the broader engineering team
-
Mentor and level up junior and mid-level engineers through code review, pairing sessions, and constructive technical feedback
-
Collaborate directly with product and design to translate ambiguous requirements into clear, well-scoped engineering plans
-
Proactively identify opportunities to improve product quality, developer velocity, and reliability — not just execute on assigned work
-
Own the reliability of the systems you build: define SLOs, instrument monitoring, lead incident response and post-mortems
-
Contribute to platform health — CI/CD pipelines, deployment tooling, testing practices, and production runbooks
-
Balance near-term business objectives against long-term architectural integrity
Â
Qualifications
-
6–8 years of software engineering experience, with a meaningful portion spent at high-growth startups building customer-facing products
-
Strong Go proficiency — this is the core backend language; real depth required, not surface-level familiarity
-
Distributed systems expertise — deep, production-scale, battle-tested
-
Experience with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), Redis, and workflow orchestration tools
-
Track record of shipping robust, scalable systems from ambiguity to production at a fast-moving company
-
Architectural ownership — you've shaped systems, not just shipped within mature ones
-
Mentorship and technical leadership experience — reviewing PRs, guiding design decisions, leveling up other engineers
-
AI-forward mindset — you actively leverage modern AI development tools and understand their strengths and limitations
-
3+ years at one company — evidence of depth, not just breadth
-
Product engineering instincts — you think about users, business outcomes, and why features matter
-
High ownership, direct communication style, and comfort operating with significant autonomy
-
Must work onsite in New York, NY — this is non-negotiable
-
Willingness to commit to an intensive, high-output working culture
Â
Nice-to-Have
-
Background in conversational AI, sales technology, CRM integration, call analytics, or revenue intelligence
-
Experience building or scaling an AI-powered B2B product used by enterprise customers
-
Familiarity with Temporal for durable workflow orchestration
-
Active side projects, open-source contributions, or public writing that demonstrates architectural thinking
-
Ex-founder or early engineer at a venture-backed startup with measurable product impact
Â
What's Offered
-
Outsized ownership on a lean, high-impact engineering team at a rapidly scaling AI company
-
Direct access to product leadership and meaningful influence over technical and product direction
-
Flat organizational structure — no layers of management between you and decision-makers
-
Opportunity to lead a core product area within six months
-
Competitive equity package
-
Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance
-
Lunch stipend, learning budget, unlimited PTO, and choice of equipment and software
-
A team with exceptional retention — engineers stay because the work, culture, and people are genuinely compelling
