Position Overview

This is a senior-level individual contributor role for a backend engineer who enjoys building complex systems at scale. You will own the design and delivery of infrastructure that handles billions of dollars in transactions while navigating challenging regulatory requirements. The environment is lean, flat, and high-autonomy, favoring engineers who want to do the best work of their lives without management layers.

Technical Skills

• Backend Expertise: Python (Primary), Go, or Java.

• Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, and GCP/AWS.

• Database: PostgreSQL, Redis, and distributed data systems.

• Architecture: Microservices, API design, and event-driven systems.

• Tooling: Git, CI/CD pipelines, and observability frameworks.

 

Role Priorities

• Technical Anchor: Own end-to-end design and implementation of complex, cross-cutting features.

• Architectural Ownership: Design robust infrastructure to handle evolving federal and state regulations.

• Fast Turnaround: Ability to move from design to production delivery at startup speed.

• Product Thinking: Work with Product and Design to define the best customer experiences.

• Reliability: Define monitoring and observability for the systems you build.

• Identify opportunities to improve developer velocity and system reliability.

 

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of software engineering experience in the United States.

• Career progression showing promotion to a senior-level role or above.

• History of employment at well-known, high-growth technology startups.

• Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science is preferred.

• Must be able to work in-person in New York or San Francisco for hybrid roles.
