Position Overview

We are seeking a Fintech Engineering Lead to serve as a cornerstone of the core product team. This is a critically important, hands-on role where you will work directly with the technical founders to set industry-standard engineering practices and build a secure, high-performance application from the ground up.

The role involves managing significant technical complexity, as the platform handles real-world money movement at scale internationally. You will be responsible for building and refining the critical systems that power the app—including ledgers, payment rails, and wallet integrations—ensuring the highest levels of reliability and security.

Technical Skills

• Backend Mastery: Python (FastAPI), with an openness to breaking out performance-critical services into Rust or Go.

• Fintech Architecture: Deep expertise in building core systems such as ledgers, payment processing engines, or stablecoin infrastructure.

• Database & Cache: Production-level experience with PostgreSQL and Redis.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Expert-level familiarity with the AWS ecosystem and cloud-native patterns.

• System Integrity: Proven ability to build secure, audit-ready systems for risk and fraud management.

• API Design: Sophisticated RESTful API design to power iOS, Android, and Web clients.

 

Role Priorities

• Standard Setting: Establish and enforce engineering best practices that ensure the system remains robust as it scales globally.

• Building from Scratch: Drive the development of new payment rails and financial products rather than maintaining legacy internal systems.

• Domain Expertise: Apply deep leverable knowledge of B2C banking, stablecoins, or payments to solve complex movement-of-money problems.

• Technical Vision: Shape the architectural roadmap and decide when to leverage specific technologies for maximum performance.

• Secure Scaling: Maintain a "security-first" mindset while scaling the platform to support millions of international users.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of core financial services and backend infrastructure.

• Integrate cryptocurrency wallets and banking providers with the platform's REST API.

• Implement secure, reliable ledgering and payment orchestration systems.

• Partner with founders to define and execute the long-term technical strategy.

• Maintain the highest bar for code quality, security, and system performance.

 

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with a primary focus on the United States market.

• Proven track record building and shipping consumer-facing fintech products.

• Deep expertise in at least one core domain: ledgering, payments, stablecoin infra, or fraud management.

• Hands-on experience with the Python/AWS stack and modern backend deployment patterns.

• Strong technical communication and a background in high-growth startups.

• Candidates must provide a GitHub profile or equivalent portfolio for review.

• Ability to work in-office 5 days a week at the San Francisco headquarters.
