About Our Client

An early-stage AI research lab building the world's first AI tutor: a voice agent that deeply knows each student and can teach anyone anything, anytime. The company sits at the intersection of cutting-edge AI research and consumer product, combining large language model work with thoughtful design to deliver highly personalized tutoring experiences with memory, personality, and genuine care. Founded by a Stanford graduate who previously helped scale a consumer startup from seed to Series C and later invested at a top-tier venture firm, the team is backed by leading investors and an angel group of nearly 50 executives and heads of engineering from some of the most respected companies in AI and fintech. The culture is flat, fast, and autonomous.

Position Overview

This is the company's first and only marketing hire: a true founding seat. You will own the entire top-of-funnel engine, from the first ad a parent sees to the moment they book a call. That means creative strategy, campaign execution, content, influencer, funnel, and attribution, all in one role. The company is not looking for someone to manage a team or inherit a playbook. They want someone who has done this before at a consumer brand and is ready to run it again, faster and with more ownership.

Core Skills

  • Scaled Meta paid ads at a consumer or DTC startup

  • Direct ownership of significant paid media spend with measurable CAC results

  • Expert Meta Ads campaign management and optimization

  • Built or managed a short-form video content pipeline

  • Run a creator or influencer strategy, ideally including YouTube

  • Consumer or DTC performance marketing background

  • Hands-on, data-driven approach to experimentation and creative testing

What You'll Own

  • Performance marketing end-to-end: creative strategy, campaign structure, budgets, attribution, and CAC optimization across Meta, Google Search, Reddit, X, and new channels as they earn their spend

  • The short-form video content engine, whether you make it yourself, direct creators, or build out a structured content fellowship into a consistent pipeline

  • The existing Meta ads strategy: auditing it, setting a rigorous testing cadence, and making clear calls on what to launch, what to kill, and why

  • Landing page and funnel experiments in close collaboration with engineering, routing visitors dynamically by ad and instrumenting everything for measurement

  • Translating parent and student feedback into sharper positioning and creative that converts

  • Influencer relationships and UGC pipelines to scale creative volume without scaling headcount

  • In-person activations and events as a complementary channel to digital acquisition

Who Thrives in This Role

  • You have owned a budget and have results you can point to. Numbers, not stories.

  • You know how to build a content engine, not just run ads. Directing creators, making short-form video yourself, or both.

  • You do not wait for a brief. You look at what exists, figure out what is broken, and fix it.

  • You cut losers fast. You set a testing cadence, you read the data, and you move on without sentimentality.

  • A small founding team and a blank slate energizes you. You are not looking for a function to inherit.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in performance marketing or paid acquisition at consumer companies (up to 8 years considered)

  • Proven track record scaling Meta paid ads at a consumer or DTC startup with measurable acquisition outcomes

  • Direct budget ownership with a strong grasp of attribution and CAC optimization

  • Experience building or managing a short-form video content pipeline

  • Experience running a creator channel or influencer strategy

  • No specific degree required; scrappy, self-starting operators preferred

  • On-site in downtown San Francisco, typically five days a week, with up to one remote day per week

  • Open to visa transfers including OPT and H-1B transfers, as well as new H-1B and TN sponsorships

What's Offered

  • Sole ownership of the growth engine at an AI company with real traction and early-stage equity upside

  • A founding marketing seat with full autonomy over strategy, budget, and execution

  • Direct, daily collaboration with a small and ambitious founding team

  • Backing from top-tier institutional investors and a broad angel network of executives from leading AI and fintech companies

  • A chance to build the function from scratch at a company defining a new category in education

If you want to own growth at a company that is moving fast and building something genuinely new, we would love to hear from you.
